Every other weekend, I run a TTRPG game, and somewhere along the way I started coming up with monsters and animals that probably should not exist. Back in 2022, I started putting some of those ideas into an AI image generator just to see what it would come up with.
Some were terrible. Some were creepy. Some were ridiculous enough that I had to keep them. These are a few of my favorites.

Molotov Cockatiel
I saw a meme about a Molotov Cockatiel and couldn’t get the idea out of my head. So naturally, I had to see what one would look like.
Zeraffe
We all know how this abomination came to be. Somehow, though, it turned out weirdly adorable. Just look at that face.
Two-headed Winged Fire Ass
This flaming burro is mostly motivated by food, which somehow makes it worse. If one of these is flying overhead, I would probably move. Fast.
Piranha Frogs
Apparently regular frogs weren’t dangerous enough. This one has a nasty bite and definitely isn’t sitting around waiting for flies.
Moad
The Moad showed up while I was trying to make the Piranha Frog. It is basically all mouth with a few tiny legs attached. I still don’t understand how this thing is supposed to jump without tipping over.
Elephant Squirrels
If regular squirrels are already determined to steal every nut they can find, imagine one with the size and strength of an elephant. That feels like a problem for the whole party.
Alpaca Sharks
Somewhere in the Arctic Ocean swims the Alpaca Shark. It has the body of a predator, a ridiculously warm coat and, because being a shark apparently wasn’t enough, it spits too.
Aquadogs
This friendly doggo is part dog and part seahorse. Basically man’s best friend if you happen to live underwater. I still want to know what kind of stick it would bring back.
Fluffy Ants
These ants have ridiculously soft fur. It would probably take an entire colony to make one piece of clothing, though.
Giant Flying Bull Ant
Apparently a regular bull ant wasn’t enough, so this one is giant and it flies. I don’t think it needs much more explanation than that. If you see one coming, run.
Hellno
Eagle wings. Octopus tentacles. Absolutely not. This thing came straight out of a nightmare, which is why I named it Hellno. Use it in your game however you want. I want nothing to do with it.
Giant Eaglepus
I don’t know what this thing eats. Dolphins, maybe? Whatever it wants, probably. I’m not arguing with a giant flying eagle-octopus.
Jelly Bean Crab
The Jelly Bean Crab lays eggs that look like candy. An unsuspecting creature eats what it thinks is a pile of jelly beans, and then the eggs hatch inside it.
Yeah. I went a little dark with this one.
Male Llamogre
Fifty percent llama. Fifty percent ogre. One hundred percent something I never needed to see. I will admit, though, he looks strangely dignified.
Female Llamogre
Making a female version did not make the Llamogre any less strange. Somewhere out there, though, there is absolutely a bard who is going to try to seduce it. I just know it.
Unnamed Angel
This one never got a name, and I still don’t know what to call it. It looks like something that could either save the party or destroy it, which probably makes it perfect for a TTRPG.
TTRPG Gear for Bringing These Monsters to the Table
Coming up with ridiculous monsters is easy. Keeping track of them once the party decides to fight one is not. Here are a few things that might actually help at the table.
D&D Binder and RPG Organizer
Keeps character sheets, dice, miniatures, pens and other game-night supplies together in one case, with space to organize everything between sessions.
A reusable battle map set with a grid surface and accessories for laying out encounters, combat areas and whatever ridiculous monster the party runs into next.
Pathfinder Pawns: Reign of Winter Adventure Path
A collection of fantasy character and creature pawns that can be used on the table for encounters, enemies and NPCs during a campaign.
And if collecting dice is half the fun for you, I also have a whole list of unique dice sets.
None of these creatures should probably exist, which is kind of the point. Some are ridiculous, some are creepy, and a few might actually work in a game.
